The Downing family, along with all our staff, would like to welcome you to Fern Resort. Please enjoy all of the wonderful facilities available to you from the biking and hiking trails, tennis, bocce ball, water sports, basketball, golf and of course all the wonderful meals in the dining room. If you need anything at all, please just ask any of our staff.

We’re really excited to have you joining us this Summer and we want you to enjoy your much-needed break. We know that your stay will be filled with opportunities to pause, relax and reconnect as a family. Have a Ferntastic getaway!

This is your chance to relax and do something fun.

Walking Trails

Get out and explore our 6.5 km trails. Winding through the picturesque woods, our trails get you up close with nature. Be sure to stop by one of the ponds and see if you can spot a Great Blue Heron fishing or an Osprey diving for its next meal.

So Many Things To Do

Summer is here and there are TONS of fun things to do at Fern. Take a walk along our nature trails, play a game of mini-putt, or explore our waterfront. We have tennis, giant chess, giant checkers, basketball, shuffleboard, bocce, mini-putt, horseshoes, walking trails, indoor pool, steam room, hot tub & sauna, fitness centre just to name a few activities! Please ask at the Front Desk for any equipment you will need.

WHERE DO I GET SPORTS EQUIPMENT?

Head over to the Sports Cottage and a staff member will help you sign-out / sign-in sports equipment free of charge. For information on where this is located, please ask the Front Desk or see Property Map below.

WHERE DO I GET TOWELS?

Come to the Front Desk to sign out towels. You can then bring back used towels to the Front Desk and exchange them for fresh ones.

Policies & Info

Smoking & Vaping

Smoking, including vaping, is not permitted anywhere indoors or on the balconies and decks of rooms and cottages at Fern Resort. Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated smoking areas in the following locations: A. The 1st floor balcony off the Hearthside Inn. B. Off the pool deck behind the BBQ gazebo. C. Across the small parking area in front of the entrance to Mary Lou’s/Bergwen’s.

Smoking Cannabis

Since Fern is a family resort with many children on the property, smoking cannabis or vaping cannabis products is not allowed anywhere on Fern Resort property, in accordance with Ontario’s Cannabis Laws regulating areas where children gather. For medical cannabis use please inquire at the front desk.

Alcohol & Licensed Areas

Alcoholic beverages are only permitted in licensed areas and must be purchased from Fern. These areas include Bertyl’s Lounge, the Heritage Dining Room, Mary Lou’s, Bergwen’s and the Terrace Bar. Alcohol is not to be brought into or taken out of these areas. Alcohol is not permitted within the white lines around the pools.

Tipping

Tips are not included in our package rates. To help you determine a proper gratuity for your dining room server
and housekeeper, may we suggest the following:
• Dining Room Server $3 – $5 per meal, per person at your table.
• Housekeeper $3 to $7 per day, per room.
Please use the above example as a guideline only and tip based on your personal experience with our staff. Gratuities can be given directly to staff or you may prefer to leave them with the front desk to be dispersed. Thank you for allowing us to take care of you and your family during your stay.
